Few things in life feel better than a long, hot shower at the beginning or end of the day, but if you and your family have to duke it out for what little lukewarm water is left, it may be a sign it’s time to replace your water heater. Poore’s Propane can help: we install and service propane-fired tankless and traditional water heaters from Rinnai and Rheem that provide a virtually endless supply of hot water.

While insufficient hot water is one telltale sign that you need a new water heater, it’s not the only one. You may need a new water heater if:

  • It’s too noisy – Over time, mineral deposits accumulate at the bottom of your water heater. If you hear knocking, banging, hissing or humming noises coming from your water heater, it could be because steam bubbles are escaping the sediment, much like boiling water pushing up a pot’s top.
  • You find water on the floor – Puddles of water could indicate a number of problems: a leak, loose valves, a corroded tank, or condensation, to name a few. If you notice water underneath and around your tank, contact us right away, as even small amounts of water can sprout mold and mildew. In more extreme cases, the issue can become serious enough to flood the area.
  • It’s too old – Water heaters typically last 10-15 years, so if yours is hitting double digits, replace it before something fails.
