Propane: Clean, Efficient, & Versatile!

Propane heating equipment, water heaters and appliances boost your quality of life.

propane Sussex County, DE Whether you’re building a new home or looking to overhaul your current house’s comfort systems, it’s reasonable to ask what the best energy source would be to safeguard your family’s well-being in the most eco-friendly way possible.

At Poore’s Propane and Oil, we install and service equipment that runs on oil, gas and electricity. Pretty much every energy source available to households in central Delmarva and eastern Pennsylvania has advantages and drawbacks. That said, we have found that propane has an exceptional number of benefits, especially when it comes to its versatility, efficiency and clean-burning properties.

Propane powers a lot of home systems and appliances.

Are you looking for a home fuel that can fill a lot of crucial roles in your day-to-day life? Propane has you covered. Not only can you trust it to power efficient gas boilers and furnaces, but it also fuels the following premium products:

  • Traditional and tankless water heaters
  • Gas ranges and ovens
  • Clothes dryers
  • Hearth products
  • Space heaters
  • Grills and outdoor kitchens
  • Patio heaters
  • Pool heaters
  • Firepits and outdoor fireplaces

Plus, propane is a dependable energy source you control with an on-site propane tank — no need to rely on the often-suspect infrastructure of a gas utility. When you have a propane-powered standby generator, you will be covered in the event of an electric grid outage, too!

Propane equipment is exceptionally efficient.

What to know how much heat energy one gallon of propane can generate? 91,452 Btu (British thermal units). That’s the equivalent of the heat produced by roughly 27 kilowatt hours of electricity. It’s also twice the heat generation per cubic foot of natural gas.

And today’s propane heating systems boast fuel efficiency ratings as high as 98.5%. So, almost none of that heat energy is wasted — no wonder a propane furnace can consistently deliver air heated to 140° F in all weather.

For additional efficiency, just look at propane water heaters, which can warm up water about twice as fast as electric units. Propane-powered tankless water heaters are even more efficient, delivering virtually endless hot water while using even less propane.

Propane is green.

Propane is listed as an alternative fuel under both the National Energy Policy Act and the Clean Air Act. Here are some of its considerable environmental benefits:

  • Propane’s carbon intensity is lower than gasoline, diesel and even the grid electricity in Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
  • Propane is methane-free. Methane, the primary component of natural gas, is an extremely potent greenhouse gas.
  • Propane also emits practically no particulate matter (a carcinogen) in use.
  • Propane is non-toxic. If an underground propane tank leaks, it won’t negatively impact soil, groundwater, aquatic life, marine life or plant life.
